33 Days The Grubs.

When the babies are done with weaning and eating all baby food and cereal they become Grubs. This happens around 5-6 months. These kids are getting teeth, learning to crawl and sit and sometimes walk. They can hold their own bottles. Its a fun age. Right now we have three walkers so we are chasing them all the time and having to make sure the baby gate is closed at all times or they end up outside by the pool. I don’t get to be in this room too much these days but enjoy it when I do.

34 Days Fledgies.

Now when our babies get to big for the nest or too board in there they go to the Grubs room to become Fledgies. Here they are in the same room as the Grubs (tomorrow). Fledgies are between 3-6 months and are still on hourly feeds. When they get close to moving out they start eating baby food little by little. The most exciting part of this group is that the kids now wear normal cloths. In the nest they were in pjs all say here they wear jeans and dresses. And we can take them out now.

35 Days The Nest

The Nest is where we keep or little ones. 0-3 months is the usual time. But, there are exceptions. We have a 4 month old right now because her was born very prem. Also my little girl was in there when she first came to us because she was so malnourished. Our nesties get fed every 3-4 hours. I really enjoy the nest. Sitting a rocking holding a little one. There are times that I don’t like it like when 5 babies are crying and screaming at one time. But the good out weighs the bad. Its very exciting to be in the next when a new baby arrives. I have been able to experience that twice since being next trained. Both were girls. One I got to give her her first bath ever. Its so fun to see them and bath them and officially dress and welcome them to TLC. I work in the nest about 3-4 hours most days.

36 Days -- A winter walk

A few days ago I had special time with my special someone. Since this was the first special time since she started wakling I decided to go for a walk with her. The weather was nice the sun was out and it was a great hour spent. Some walking, some cuddling, some exploring.

 

37 Days Roommates

While here at TLC I have lived in two cottages and had two roommates. Both beautiful amazing ladies. I want to share a bit about them.

First was Eleanor. This was when I lived in Calli Cottage. She was my first roommate. She arrived early December, from England. At first we looked at each other thinking "who did they put us with". We are very much opposites. I was also her big sister, meaning that I helped her get situated and feeling at home at TLC when she first arrived. After we put aside our differences and thru out the year we became very close. I would say she was my closest friend here at TLC. We live very different lives but somehow that didnt matter and still doesn't. It was always so easy to talk to her. She was great with the kids especially Z. He is walking now because of all the hard work she put in.

Then they was/is Laila. She is from Switzerland. She has been to TLC before loved it so much didn't like being away so came back. She arrived last August and is here till January. She has extended. I work with her a lot on lions evenings. She has such a love for the kids. They know it too because I think she is a favorite of all of theirs. I know that one day she will have a house full of her own kids one day many of which will be adopted. I will miss her when I leave next month. She has been such an inspiration to me.

Who ever said a stroller is only for one kid. Here at TLC we use every inch and possible space.

39 Days. Sports Day.

So last summer or fall for everyone on the northern hemisphere fall/winter we all got together. Everyone at TLC came all the kids, staff, and volunteers and had a day of it. Many races. Some on bikes some on knees and more on feet.

The volunteers even raced. It was fun. Lots of laughs that day. It was nice to be outside the beautiful day all together.

40 days. MUD PUDDLES.

So I have about 40 days till Im home. Till this adventure is over. I thought I would try to share a memory or a child or something I have learned this year each day till I get home.

So for DAY ONE.

Its PUDDLE JUMPING!!  Always fun. Always messy. Always a must after a big storm.

There maybe lots of mud after but the kids love it. I miss those days.

Is it normal???

Is it normal to know just how long to heat 120ml of formula?
Is it normal to flip kids upside down to smell their bums for a poo?
Is it normal to bath 8 2 year olds at one time?
Is it normal to be in your pjs at 730 on a Friday night and asleep by 800?
Is it normal to know the color of bottles assigned to the babies as far back as September?
Is it normal to what dummies what babies like? All 20 of them.
Is it normal to not mind ants that fall onto my toast in the morning from the syrup bottle?
Is it normal to think its normal to but 3 babies in a stroller made for one?
Is it normal to be in a room for 4 hrs with 5 babies under 4 months, just you and them?
Is it normal to be responsible for babies 20 minutes after you get up?
Is it normal that your idea of getting out is a mall visit with a year old attached?
Is it normal to see buggers inside a nose and have the need to pick them out?
Is it normal to not know what day of the week it is?
Is it normal to wear clothes over and over and over even thought hey have cereal, spit up and who knows what else on them? As long as they don’t smell they are clean. They are just going to get dirty again tomorrow.
Is it normal to eat grilled cheese for breakfast and dinner and be excited about it because you haven’t seen cheese in a week?
Is it normal to tell 2 year olds to “get naked” on a daily basis?

Just the normal life here at TLC but normal on the outside.
